Almost everything sold as freediving equipment was designed for scuba and relabelled. A mask with too much internal volume costs you air on every equalisation, fins too stiff for your legs waste energy you do not have, and a wetsuit that is a centimetre loose floods on every duck dive. We stock only what we have tested ourselves, fit masks and suits in person, match fin stiffness to leg strength rather than to price, and will happily tell you that the equipment you already own is fine.
About us
The shop began as a small workshop cutting open cell wetsuits for a handful of local divers who were tired of buying suits online and finding them too short in the body, too tight in the shoulders and flooding at the neck. Word spread among the spearfishing community, then among competitive freedivers, and eventually it made more sense to stock the rest of the equipment properly than to keep sending people elsewhere and hearing what they came back with.
Everyone who works here dives. Not as a marketing line but literally: the staff train several times a week, compete in depth and pool disciplines, and spearfish along this coast in winter. That means the person recommending a mask has flooded, cleared and equalised in it at thirty metres, and can tell you which nose pocket suits which face shape. It also means we know when a product's marketing claims collapse in real conditions, and we simply do not carry those products.
The commercial consequence is a deliberately narrow range. There are perhaps four masks worth owning at any given moment, not thirty, and three sensible ways to buy fins depending on budget and leg strength. We would rather sell one correct item than three that get replaced within a year, and we say so plainly when a customer's existing kit is perfectly adequate and the real limitation is training rather than equipment.

Internal volume decides how much air you spend equalising the mask on every descent, and skirt shape decides whether it leaks on your particular cheekbones. We keep the low volume masks worth owning, let you try each one dry and then in our test tank, and check the seal without the strap. High noses, wide faces and people with moustaches all have predictable problems, and the right answer is different for each. Nobody should discover a leak at twenty metres.
A blade too stiff for your legs burns oxygen and gives you nothing back; too soft and you move water without moving yourself. Stiffness should follow body weight, leg strength and technique, not budget, and a beginner is usually better served by a soft plastic blade than by expensive carbon. We ask what you weigh, watch you kick in the pool if you like, and regularly talk people down to a cheaper blade than they arrived intending to buy.
Open cell neoprene works because it seals against skin, which means a suit a centimetre too large flushes cold water on every dive and one too small restricts the diaphragm exactly where you need it free. We take fourteen measurements, cut and glue in our own workshop and adjust after the first swim if anything pulls. Thickness is chosen for the water you actually dive in, and repairs and re-gluing are done here rather than sent away.
Everything on the shelves has been dived by someone who works here, usually for a season before we agree to stock it. Products whose claims fail in cold water, whose buckles corrode by August or whose blades delaminate simply never appear. This is why our range is small and why we can answer detailed questions instantly rather than reading the packaging back to you. When we do not know, we say so and find out.
Lanyards, buoys, dive lines, cutting tools and surface markers are not accessories, and we will not sell a depth setup without discussing how you intend to be supervised. Staff explain how a lanyard should actually be attached, why a bottom plate matters, and what a buddy needs to do rather than merely be present. Several customers have arrived planning to train alone; we spend the time it takes to change their minds.
Neoprene tears glue back together, blades can be reset into new foot pockets, mask skirts and straps are replaceable, speargun bands and mechanisms are serviceable, and a watch usually needs a seal rather than a successor. We repair everything we sell and much that we did not, quote before working, and keep spares for older models long after distributors stop bothering. Equipment that lasts eight years is cheaper for you and better for the sea.

Low volume masks in every skirt shape we have found to work, fitted dry and then wet in the shop's test tank so a leak is discovered here rather than on a dive. Simple J-shaped snorkels without purge valves, nose clips for those who train without a mask, and fluid goggles for divers working past the depth where a mask becomes a liability. Anti-fog treatment and burning of new lenses is done for you before you leave.
Plastic, fibreglass and carbon blades in a range of stiffnesses, sold with foot pockets chosen separately so the combination fits you rather than the box. We advise on stiffness from weight, leg strength and technique, will watch you kick in the pool before you decide, and fit blades into existing pockets if yours are still good. Monofins for pool disciplines are ordered to measure with fitting guidance included.
Suits cut and glued in our own workshop from fourteen measurements, in thicknesses matched to the water you dive rather than to the calendar, with camouflage or plain linings, reinforced chest loading pads for spearfishing and knee patches. Turnaround is around three weeks. Adjustments after the first swim are included, and we re-glue, patch and reline suits of any origin for as long as the neoprene is worth saving.
Freediving watches and computers with proper depth alarms and dive logs, set up and explained rather than handed over in a box, alongside lanyards, dive lines, bottom plates, buoys, surface markers and cutting tools. We go through how a training session should be organised and supervised, because most of this equipment only works if the person beside you knows what to do. Batteries and seals are replaced in the shop.
Guns from short reef weapons to long blue water rigs, shafts, bands, reels, floats and rigging line, all set up here with bands cut to your draw strength rather than to a factory default. We rig floatlines properly, service mechanisms, replace worn bands before they part at the wrong moment, and talk honestly about which local species and seasons are worth chasing and which local rules apply along this stretch of coast.
Full sets available to hire by the day or week for visitors and for divers wanting to test a blade stiffness before committing, with hire fees deducted from a subsequent purchase. Repairs cover neoprene, fins, guns, masks and watches, quoted before we start. We also run small guided sessions on nearby reefs and drop-offs with a safety diver, which is the fastest way for a visitor to find the water worth diving.
